Getting Started

Moving Your Catalogue from DISCO

How to export your audio and metadata from DISCO and bring your whole catalogue into Locker, credits and all.

What Moves Across

If your catalogue lives in DISCO today, you can bring almost all of it with you: your original audio files, your titles, writers, splits, status labels and any custom fields you added. The move has three steps: ask DISCO for your metadata, download your audio, then drop both into Locker.

  • Audio: your original files, downloaded per playlist or folder as ZIP archives
  • Metadata: a spreadsheet of every track with all standard and custom DISCO fields
  • Structure: folder and playlist groupings survive as the folder names in your downloads

Some things stay behind by nature: DISCO share links, your send history, and DISCO-side listening analytics belong to that platform and cannot be exported. Plan to rebuild active pitches as Locker shares once your catalogue is in.

Step 1: Ask DISCO for Your Metadata

DISCO provides track metadata as a CSV export on request. It is handled by their support team rather than a button in the app, so start this first and download your audio while you wait.

  • Contact DISCO support from your account and request a metadata CSV export of all tracks
  • Ask for all tracks in your DISCO, not a single playlist or folder, and confirm custom fields are included
  • Exports are available on their Plus, Pro and Enterprise plans, and typically arrive within one business day

The export includes a column for every standard DISCO field plus your custom ones. You do not need to clean it up, Locker reads the columns and maps them for you.

Step 2: Download Your Audio

DISCO downloads audio per playlist or folder as a ZIP. By default those ZIPs contain optimised MP3 or MP4 files, so flip each playlist to include your originals before downloading.

  • Open a playlist's settings and turn on the option to include original formats
  • Use the Download button on the playlist to get the ZIP
  • Repeat per playlist or folder, working in batches for a large catalogue
  • Unzip everything into one folder on your computer, keeping the folder names

Check the first ZIP before doing the rest: if you see WAV or AIFF files inside, your originals are coming through.

Step 3: Bring It into Locker

Open the uploader and drag your unzipped folders straight in, or use Add and choose Folder. Locker groups files into tracks, detects versions, and reads writer names from your filenames.

Then add your DISCO spreadsheet in the same window: choose Add, then Catalogue sheet (CSV). Locker reads it into your knowledge on the spot, and matching tracks fill in writers, splits, status and more while your files are still queued. Every filled value shows where it came from.

  • Review each track card: pre-filled values carry a small note naming their source
  • Resolve anything amber, unmatched names and undecided tracks are collected in one list
  • Press Upload when you are happy, nothing is written until you do

If your DISCO export includes ISWC codes, keep that column. Locker uses ISWC to recognise registered works with certainty.

You do not have to do it all in one sitting. The spreadsheet stays in your knowledge after the first import, so every later batch of audio keeps filling in from it automatically.

After the Move

Every song from your spreadsheet that has no recording in your locker yet gets its own Find audio card in your suggestions, showing the writers, splits and details the sheet declared. Tap Upload audio on a card and drop the file in; the card retires itself once the song is really in. And if you connect the drive where your DISCO downloads live, Locker goes further, pairing your spreadsheet with the audio it finds there and suggesting ready-made imports.

Your catalogue knowledge keeps working from day one: Kii can answer questions about writers, splits and status for everything you imported.

DISCO is a trademark of its owner. Locker is not affiliated with or endorsed by DISCO, and this guide simply describes export features available to DISCO account holders. Their support team can help with the specifics of your plan.
