Tracks & Versions
Deep dive into the track and version system.
The Track-Version Model
Locker uses a two-level hierarchy: Tracks are containers, and Versions are the actual audio files inside them. This model mirrors how music is actually made, one song goes through many iterations.
The Track Panel
Click any track to open its panel on the right side. Everything about the track sits in four tabs:
- Files: Versions with playback and waveforms, Stems, Videos, Sessions (the DAW sessions behind the track) and Other files
- Words: Lyrics and Voice Notes
- People: Credits, then who can see the track: collaborators and share links
- About: Details (artist, status, tags, where it was made), Release, Notes, Comments, Tasks and Plans
The panel's menu holds the track's History, Download and Move to Trash.

Track Status
Every track can have a status: the stage it is at in your workflow. You decide the stages and their order. The starting set is:
- Idea
- Demo
- Work in progress
- Mixing
- Mastered
- Released
Switch Music to the Board view to see your tracks as columns, one per stage, and drag a track to move it on. Edit stages from the board to rename, reorder or add your own.
