Uploading Files
Learn how to upload audio files with the Smart Uploader.
The Smart Uploader
Locker's Smart Uploader is designed to save you time. When you upload audio files, it automatically:
- Detects track names from your filenames
- Groups versions of the same song together
- Identifies contributor names from filename patterns (e.g., [ASmith BJones])
- Matches detected contributors to your existing contacts to help build credits
- Processes multiple files in a single upload workflow

Supported File Formats
Locker supports all major audio formats:
- MP3: Most common, widely compatible
- WAV: Uncompressed, studio quality
- FLAC: Lossless compression
- AAC / M4A: Apple formats
- OGG: Open-source format
- AIFF: Apple uncompressed
Upload Methods
- Click "+ Upload": Opens the full Smart Uploader workspace where you can review and organize before uploading
- Drag and drop onto library: Quick upload, files are processed automatically
- Drag onto an existing track: Adds files as new versions to that specific track
Filename Conventions
The Smart Uploader recognizes contributor names from common filename patterns:
- Square brackets: Song Name [ASmith BJones].mp3
- Hyphen-separated in brackets: Song [ASmith-BJones-CWilson].mp3
- Parentheses with commas: Song (A Smith, B Jones).mp3
- Featuring patterns: Song feat. A Smith.mp3
- Curly braces: Song {ASmith BJones}.mp3
- Pipe-separated: Song | ASmith | BJones.mp3
You can always edit track names, versions, and credit assignments in the Smart Uploader before uploading. The auto-detection is a starting point, you have full control.
