Permissions & Access Levels
Control exactly who can see and edit what.
How Permissions Work
Every track and project in Locker has an owner (the person who created it). The owner has full control and can share with others by assigning roles. Permissions determine what collaborators can see and do.
Role-Based Access
When you share a track or project, you assign a role that determines the base level of access:
- Editor: Full edit access to the content. Editors can upload versions, edit lyrics, add files, and make changes. They cannot delete the track or change other collaborators' permissions.
- Viewer: Read-only access. Viewers can listen, read lyrics, and download (if downloads are enabled), but cannot make changes.
Section-Level Permissions
For fine-grained control, you can customise permissions per section of a track. This lets you grant access to some parts while restricting others.
- Lyrics: Edit, View, or None
- Versions (audio): Edit, View, or None
- Files & Stems: Edit, View, or None
- Voice Notes: Edit, View, or None
- Comments: Edit, View, or None
For example, you might give a lyricist Editor access to Lyrics but View-only access to Versions. They can see the audio to write to, but only edit the words.
Changing Permissions
To change a collaborator's permissions, open the track inspector and go to the Shares section. Click the collaborator's name to see their current role and section-level settings. Adjust as needed and save. Changes take effect immediately.
Revoking Access
To remove someone's access entirely, click the remove button next to their name in the Shares section. They will lose access immediately and will no longer see the track in their library.
Revoking access does not delete any edits the collaborator made. Their contributions remain part of the track's history.
Owner Transfer
Currently, ownership cannot be transferred. If you need to hand a track to someone else, share it as Editor and keep the original ownership. Future updates may add ownership transfer.
