Sharing and Collaborators
The two ways to bring other people in: Share sends a link, Add a collaborator works together inside Locker.
Two Ways to Bring People In
Locker makes it easy to work with other people while keeping you in control. There are two ways, and they do different jobs:
- Share: sends a private link to anyone, with or without a Locker account. They listen in a browser, and you see who listened. Use it for pitches, clients and anyone outside Locker.
- Add a collaborator: brings someone with a Locker account onto one track, playlist or lyric, to work on it with you inside Locker.
For whole lockers rather than one thing, there are Teams. See Teams in the People section.
Sharing & Collaboration
Owners & Collaborators
Locker has a clear ownership and collaboration model:
- Owner: Full control, including moving the track to the Trash and managing collaborators. A track can have more than one owner.
- Editor: Can change the track's content: upload versions, edit lyrics, add files and leave comments.
- Viewer: Can listen and read, and download if allowed, but cannot make changes.
- Custom permissions: Fine-tune access per part of the track, whatever the role.
Adding a Collaborator
- Open the track, then its People tab, and press Add collaborator (or choose Add collaborator from its menu)
- Pick someone from your People, or type their email address
- Choose a role: Editor or Viewer
- Optionally set custom permissions for each part of the track
- Send the invite
They get an invite, and the track appears in their Locker once they accept. If they are not on Locker yet, the invite asks them to sign up first. Nobody ever becomes a collaborator without being invited and saying yes.
Share Links
Share lets you send music without knowing whether the person is on Locker. Make a link, send it however you like (email, message, etc.), and anyone who opens it can listen within the limits you set.
See the Share Links article for passwords, expiry, downloads and asking who is listening.
What Collaborators See
A collaborator sees what their role and permissions allow. By default, Editors can change everything; Viewers see everything but cannot edit. You can narrow access to particular parts with custom permissions.
