Quick Start Guide

Welcome to Locker

Locker keeps your music and everything around it in one place: tracks, versions, lyrics, voice notes, stems, files, credits, the people you work with and the dates that matter. Whether you're a songwriter, producer, artist, manager or A&R, it handles the cataloguing so you have more time to make music.

This guide walks you through the essentials so you can start working in minutes.

Your First Visit

The first time you sign in, Locker asks you to bring your music over. Drop in files or folders from your computer, or connect Dropbox or Google Drive. On a phone, choose files from the Files app, or pick up where you left off on your computer later.

While your music goes in, Locker shows you what it is finding. It may ask two quick questions, both optional: which of the names it spotted in your files is you, and what you do. When it is done you get a summary, the people it found for you to check, and a few questions to try with Kii.

Finding Your Way Around

• The dock: your places, down the left on a computer and along the bottom on a phone. It starts with Home, Music, Ideas, People and Tasks, and All opens every place in Locker. You can add, remove and reorder places to suit how you work.
• Home: where you land. A line on what matters now, your numbers, anything waiting for your answer, and cards you choose.
• Search: the magnifier at the top of the dock, or Cmd+K (Ctrl+K on Windows). Type to search everything, or ask Kii a question and press Enter.
• The plus: Locker's one add button. It opens "What have you got?": bring in files, Dropbox or Google Drive, or start something new (a voice note, track, lyric, concept, playlist, roster sheet, brief, share link, person, task or plan). Hold the plus to record a voice note straight into Ideas.
• Your avatar: Settings, Insights, Help, and dark or light mode.

Your First Steps

• Add your music: press the plus and choose files, or drag files anywhere onto Locker. See Adding Your Music.
• Open a track: click any track to open its side panel, with its versions, lyrics, voice notes, people, credits and notes.
• Write: open a lyric to work in the Writing Room, with rhymes, chords and voice takes beside the words.
• Let the analyser listen: Locker reads tempo, key, genre, mood and instruments from every version by itself.
• Send your music: use Share to send a private link, or Add a collaborator to work on a track together inside Locker.
• Check Tasks: its Suggestions show what Locker found in your files and sheets, and what your tracks are missing.
• Ask Kii: questions about your catalogue, in plain words.

Give Locker More to Go On

Two things make Locker much better from day one, and both are optional:

• Your people: import a contacts file so Locker can recognise the names in your filenames and suggest credits. On People, open the ··· menu and choose Import people. See Exporting Your Contact List.
• Your catalogue sheets: a works list from your PRO, a distributor report or your own spreadsheet. Add it in the Add to Locker window as a Catalogue sheet, or under Settings, Connections, Documents. See Exporting Your PRO Catalogue.
