Locker helps you organize, collaborate on, and manage your music projects in one place. Whether you're a songwriter, producer, artist, or manager, Locker keeps tracks, versions, lyrics, files, and collaborators connected.
This guide walks you through the essentials so you can start working in minutes.
Getting Started with Locker
The Onboarding Wizard
When you first sign in, Locker's onboarding wizard walks you through three steps designed to give Kii (your AI assistant) the context it needs to be genuinely useful from day one.
Step 1: Tell Kii About You
Set your name, role in the industry (songwriter, producer, artist, manager, A&R), and any other details about how you work. This helps Kii tailor its suggestions and understand your perspective.
Step 2: Import Your Contacts
Upload a CSV of the people you work with, co-writers, producers, publishers, managers, artists, A&Rs. This is one of the most impactful things you can do early on.
Why it matters:
- When you upload tracks, Locker can automatically match contributor names from filenames to your contacts and suggest credits
- Kii can reference your collaborator network when answering questions or making suggestions
- Your contact cards become a living directory, linked to tracks, credits, and collaboration history
You can export contacts from Google Contacts, Apple Contacts, Outlook, or any spreadsheet. See the "Exporting Your Contact List" guide for step-by-step instructions.
Step 3: Add Context Files
Upload CSV files from your PRO (PRS, ASCAP, BMI, SESAC), distributor, or any spreadsheet that lists your catalogue. These are called Context Sources.
Why it matters:
- Kii learns your back catalogue (song titles, co-writers, publishers, ISWC/ISRC codes) without you entering them one by one
- Locker generates smart Suggestions by cross-referencing context data with your library, helping you fill in missing credits, metadata, and connections
- The more context Kii has, the more accurate and proactive it becomes, surfacing things you'd otherwise have to remember or look up manually
Context files are read-only references, they don't modify your catalogue directly. Kii uses them to generate suggestions that you review and approve.
Your First Steps After Onboarding
- Upload your first track: Drag audio files onto the library or click "+ Upload"
- Explore the Smart Uploader: Locker automatically detects track names, groups versions, and identifies contributor names from filenames to help build credits
- Open the Inspector: Click any track to see its details, versions, lyrics, and files in the side panel
- Try the Lyrics Editor: Write or paste lyrics with built-in songwriter tools
- Review audio analysis: After upload, Locker can analyze versions for BPM, key, genre, mood, and instruments
- Share with collaborators: Use the share button to invite others with specific permissions
- Check Suggestions: Visit the Suggestions page to see what Kii has found from your context files
Key Concepts
In Locker, a Track is a container, like a folder for a song. Inside each track live Versions (audio files), Lyrics, Voice Memos, Stems, and Files. This means one song can have multiple mixes, demos, and masters all organized together.
