Sharing Tracks & Projects

Sharing Overview

Locker makes it easy to share your work while keeping you in control. You can share individual tracks, entire projects, or playlists. There are two main ways to share: inviting specific people (by email or Locker username), or generating a share link that anyone with the link can access.

Owners & Collaborators

Locker has a clear ownership and collaboration model:

• Owner: The person who created the track. Full control, including deleting the track and managing other collaborators.
• Editor: Full edit access to the track's content. Can upload versions, edit lyrics, add files, and leave comments.
• Viewer: Read-only access. Can listen, view lyrics, and download (if enabled), but cannot make changes.
• Custom permissions: Fine-tune access per section (lyrics, versions, files, etc.) regardless of the base role.

Inviting Collaborators

To invite a specific person:

• Open the track or project inspector
• Go to the Shares section
• Click "Share" and enter their email address or Locker username
• Choose a role (Editor or Viewer)
• Optionally configure section-level permissions for granular control
• Click "Send Invite"

If they have a Locker account, the track appears in their library immediately. If not, they receive an email invitation to sign up, and the track will be waiting when they do.

Share Links

Share links let you share without knowing the recipient's email. Generate a link, send it however you like (email, message, etc.), and anyone who opens it can access the content within the permissions you set.

What Gets Shared

When you share a track, the recipient sees what their permissions allow. By default, Editors see everything; Viewers see everything but cannot edit. You can restrict access to specific sections using section-level permissions.

When you share a project, all tracks and playlists linked to that project are included. Collaborators can see the project workspace and its blocks.

Real-Time Collaboration

When multiple people are working on the same track or project, Locker shows their presence in real time. You can see who is viewing or editing, and changes sync instantly across all sessions. This makes it easy to co-write lyrics or review a project together.
